H. Slide Shows in Microsoft PowerPoint

Microsoft PowerPoint allows considerable manipulation for speech recognition users.  The more you know about Microsoft PowerPoint, the easier it will be to manipulate it with your voice.  In this exercise we will give you some simple ideas to try.

1. Start L&H Voice Xpress, turn on your microphone, and launch Microsoft PowerPoint with the following command:

Open Microsoft PowerPoint

2. As PowerPoint opens choose the Design Template option by saying Design Template followed by OK or Enter as seen in Figure H-1:

Figure H-1:  Choose the Design Template option and say OK or Enter with your voice.

3. PowerPoint will allow you to select a presentation style to use for your entire PowerPoint slide show.  Use the Move Down <Number> and Move Up <number>, commands to choose a template style that you like, then say OK or Enter to continue.

Figure H-3:  Choose the slide layout style that best fits the information you are presenting

5. When your new slide opens, click in the text boxes and dictate the words you want displayed.  Use the Insert Menu, New Slide command to access the Insert menu and to create your second slide.

Figure H-4:  Dictate your data into your slide show and use the pull down menus to help you add slides.

FYI: Say the New Line command when creating lists of words in PowerPoint, like the list of states in Figure H-4.

6.  Use NLT commands to enhance your PowerPoint creation experience.  Use the Show Commands option to learn what kinds of things you can say in PowerPoint. For example, you can move from slide to slide by saying the following:

First Slide

Second Slide

Third Slide

7. You can edit your slides also in PowerPoint with your voice.  The following commands should help you in your editing:

Slide Sorter

Copy (That-This-It)

Paste That Here

8. Save your document as My Slide Show using your voice.

9. Play your slide show with your voice as well with the following commands:

Slide Show Menu

View Show

Next Slide

10. Use your imagination to apply new NLT commands to your PowerPoint building experience.

FYI:  Practice creating slides in Microsoft PowerPoint with your voice.  As you do, open the Sample Commands and see if there are new, easy to use NLT commands that can help you create better multimedia slide shows.  Use the following command to view the samples:
