A.        Properly capitalize the words used in titles

 

            You must capitalize titles of books, the titles of articles in magazines, newspapers, the titles on web pages, the subject lines in email messages, movie titles, and television show titles.

 

            Capitalize the first and last words of a title -- and all the main words.  Articles (the, and, a) and positions (of, around, in, etc.) are not capped unless they appear at the front of the title. 

 

 

1.         Try the following examples:

 

The Grapes of Wrath

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

On with the Wagons

 

2.         Save these first few examples in a file called Titles.

 

 

THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK...

 

Correctly capitalize the following titles.  Add these sentences to your Titles file.

 

            for whom the bell tolls

 

the old man and the sea

 

invest wisely in these precarious times

 

how to succeed in your own home business

 

so you want to learn how to camp?

 

camping made easy

 

fly fishing for the complete idiot

 

an introduction to corporate view
